We seek to create an expansive archive of genealogical records for Haiti that identify the First Nation Peoples of the Caribbean in official documents.
We want to extend our heartfelt gratitude and sincere thanks to André Lamothe and the Haitian Genealogical Society for their invaluable contribution, expertise, and support in creating this content.
Indigenous Archives of Haiti
Please visit often as the archive is currently in its infancy. In time, it will grow and it will take the participation from the public to help us increase the number of documents in the Indigenous Archive Project for Haiti.
A duho is a carved seat made from a single piece of wood, representing an anthropomorphic figure with a sculptured head and engraved geometric designs on the back. Used for the cohoba ritual, Duhos are found in the houses of Taino caciques or chiefs throughout the Caribbean region. The Duho was also used by the cacique while watching the ball game played by the Tainos.
